Wholesale Blank DVD Media,DVD R Media
Confused about DVD-R and where it stands in the crowded field of optical media formats? Things get confusing when you're trying to sort the good from the bad in the world of blank DVDs. With a slew of formats including DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-R DL, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, DVD-RAM, and DVD-D, there's a whole lotta Ds, Rs, and Ws to keep straight. Fortunately, we are here to give you a brief primer on the DVD-R format. First, remember DVD-R discs can only be written to once. From the moment you copy onto a DVD-R disc, its contents cannot be altered. This differs from the DVD-RW format, which allows multiple revisions to a single disc. At this point, you may be asking yourself, "What's the difference between DVD-R and DVD+R?" Well, not much. Speed and storage capacities are on par with one another, with a slight edge in DVD player compatibility going to DVD-R. Industry heavy weights such as Pioneer, Fuji, Sony, Toshiba, Apple, Hitachi, Samsung, and TDK are all on board with the format. As a result of such widespread support, DVD-R enjoys near universal compatibility with DVD players and DVD-ROM drives. The DVD+R format enjoys a slight advantage when considering its lossless link system which reduces the number of empty data areas between recordings.

Blank DVD-R/+R
DVD stands for Digital Versatile Disc and DVD-R is a recordable version of the DVD optical disc. DVD-R was developed by Pioneer in the late 90's. At that time there were 2 competing formats, DVD-R and DVD+R. Each format was supported by different companies. There are still 2 different formats today, but the vast majority of DVD recorders are called hybrid drives. This means they can accept, record and play either format. It is more common to find consumer DVD recorders which are meant for the home entertainment setup will still support one of the formats, DVD-R or DVD+R. Consumer DVD recorders are sometimes called standalone recorders because they are not installed in a computer. Consumer DVD recorders are a popular trend to replace the VHS VCR since they serve basically the same function in a home entertainment setup. DVD recorder drives that are attatched to a computer are almost always hybrid drives and will record on either format.
